The St. John’s Tool Library in partnership with Association Communautaire Francophone de St. Jean and with the support of MMSB are hosting Newfoundland and Labrador’s first Zero Waste Festival!

  • Time: Doors open 10am, end of festival at 5pm

Join us for a groundbreaking event that celebrates sustainability, eco-conscious living, and waste reduction in English and French. The inaugural bilingual Zero Waste Festival is coming to St. John’s on October 15, 2023 and promises to be an inspiring gathering of individuals committed to making a positive impact on the environment.

What to Expect: Experience a day filled with interactive workshops, enlightening discussions, and engaging activities centered around reducing waste and embracing sustainable practices.

Newfoundsand - Exhibitor

We are NL's first glass recycling cooperative that has been established to be the solution to household glass recycling. We aim to not only divert your pickle jars from the landfill but turn them into sand to be used a resource for the community.

Planeet Zero Waste Consulting Inc. - Exhibitor

Check out how we process the food scraps generated during the festival by using Joracan composting bins, which have been used by the school and other organizations across the province for small-scale composting. This small-scale model solves key barriers to backyard composting, such as doing the work involved in composting and keeping optimal conditions that prevent pests and odours—significant people's concerns. It also allows organizations to start composting quickly, at low cost and risk, while supporting community social and environmental well-being.
