Tools 102 - Building a Raised Garden Bed

Learn how to build a simple rectangular raised garden bed with basic tool use.

This includes:

  • Using a circular saw, grinder, tape measure, level, drill/driver

  • Material selection, cost and places to purchase on the Avalon

  • Adapting the design and materials for different sized garden beds

This workshop is held in collaboration with the Eric Street Community Garden, and is held at the community garden at 30 Eric Street, St. John’s (see Google Maps link).

Note that this workshop is held outdoors, and there’s no seating or facilities. Please come dressed for the weather, and prepared to get hands-on cutting and building.

  • 10am to 1pm (Note: We’re aiming for this to be quicker, but 3h is to ensure no one is rushed)

  • Saturday the 4th of October, 2025. Note that if the workshop is moved due to weather, we’ll contact you by email 24h before

  • Please bring safety glasses, earmuffs/earplugs, a dust mast, and gloves if you have them. These will also be available for those who don’t have them.
